The new initiative brings existing industrial technology programs together under one platform, with a focus on Industry 4.0 and AI
The UAE is bringing its industrial technology support programs together under a new initiative aimed at helping more factories adopt advanced technology.
The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has launched Factory Forward UAE, a platform that brings together technology, technical support and financing programs for manufacturers.
The initiative builds on programs that have already supported more than 700 UAE factories, including more than 620 factories assessed through the Industrial Technology Transformation Index (ITTI).
Factory Forward is designed to support manufacturers at different stages of technology adoption. This includes helping companies identify where technology could improve their operations, understand which solutions are relevant to them and connect with technology providers and technical experts.
The platform will also bring together financing options and support programs, while sharing examples of factories that have already introduced advanced technologies.
A focus on Industry 4.0 and AI
The initiative is part of the UAE’s wider industrial strategy and its push to increase the use of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, including artificial intelligence.
According to MoIAT, the aim is to help manufacturers improve efficiency, respond to changes more quickly and become more competitive in both local and international markets.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, said the UAE’s industrial development has been supported by investment in people, skills and technology.
He said Factory Forward would help more manufacturers access existing programs and support while encouraging greater use of advanced technology, including AI, across industrial operations.
The initiative is supported by public and private sector partners across three areas. Technology partners help manufacturers assess their technology needs and identify potential solutions. Enablement partners provide specialist advice, training and knowledge, while financing partners help companies access funding for technology projects.
Factory Forward is also intended to strengthen connections between manufacturers, technology providers and other parts of the industrial ecosystem as the UAE continues to develop its advanced manufacturing sector.
