TANSŌ Brings Chef-Led Japanese Dining Concept to Jumeirah 1

New Dubai restaurant blends Japanese precision, artistic interiors and locally inspired seasonal cuisine in an alcohol-free dining experience.

A new Japanese dining concept is set to open in Dubai this month, introducing a more contemporary and chef-driven approach to the city’s evolving culinary scene.

TANSŌ will officially open on 7 May in Jumeirah 1, positioning itself as a “chef-led dining gallery” that moves away from the traditional labels often associated with Japanese dining concepts.

Rather than following the familiar omakase or izakaya format, TANSŌ has been designed around the idea of culinary craftsmanship and immersive storytelling through food, interiors and atmosphere. The concept draws inspiration from Tokyo’s layered dining culture, where precision, contrast and experimentation exist side by side.

Set inside a discreet villa in Jumeirah 1, the restaurant combines raw textures, bold colours and curated artistic elements to create what the team describes as a more expressive dining environment. The venue is intentionally alcohol-free, shifting the focus entirely to food, flavour and hospitality.

The menu balances premium ingredients with approachable presentation. Signature dishes include Hamachi Apple, featuring yellowtail with apple sashimi and jalapeño acid, alongside Marrow & Grain, which combines miso marrow, pickled onion, potato bun and nori dust. Guests can also expect premium offerings such as A5 Wagyu Striploin Ishiyaki, finished tableside on stone with ponzu and gochujang.

Launching alongside the core menu is Daichi Volume 01, the restaurant’s first seasonal collection inspired by GCC ingredients interpreted through Japanese culinary techniques. According to the team behind the concept, the aim is to combine regional sourcing with disciplined execution rather than relying solely on imported authenticity.

The beverage programme has also been developed as a central part of the experience, with a focus on crafted non-alcoholic pairings designed to complement the food menu.

TANSŌ will operate from Tuesday to Sunday between 12pm and 11pm, with reservations available through www.sevenrooms.com
