Dubai: As temperatures climb across the UAE, new inspection data from dubizzle highlights the importance of preventative vehicle maintenance, with thousands of cars showing mechanical issues that could become more serious during the hottest months of the year.
According to dubizzle’s inspection team, more than 20,000 vehicles have been inspected across the UAE since January 2026, with many requiring some form of mechanical attention. The findings offer a snapshot of the most common issues affecting vehicles on the country’s roads and underscore how extreme summer heat can place additional stress on engines, batteries and other critical components.
The most frequently identified issue was engine idling vibrations, found in 58% of inspected vehicles. These are commonly linked to worn engine mounts, which, while often overlooked, can increase wear on surrounding components over time.
Another 38% of vehicles showed idler pulley noise, indicating worn parts that may be more likely to fail under prolonged high temperatures.
Lubrication-related concerns were also widespread. Around 27% of vehicles displayed signs of engine oil sweating, while 15% had active engine oil leaks. Left untreated, oil leaks can reduce engine efficiency and increase the risk of mechanical failure, particularly during the summer.
In addition, 27% of inspected vehicles had noisy engine belts, another early indicator that maintenance or replacement may be required.
Battery health also emerged as an area of concern. While many vehicles recorded battery health between 40% and 60%, around 14% were found to have battery life below 30%, making them more susceptible to failure during periods of extreme heat.
Less common but potentially more serious issues were also identified. Around 16% of vehicles showed minor or major transmission oil leaks, while 7% experienced engine misfires, which can affect performance, fuel efficiency and long-term engine health if not addressed.
Sherif Magdy, Sales Director at dubizzle Cars, said the inspection data reveals recurring patterns that motorists should not ignore, especially during the peak summer season.
He noted that many of the issues identified are preventable if detected early, and that regular inspections can help reduce repair costs, prevent unexpected breakdowns and improve road safety.
Six checks to make before peak summer
Based on its inspection findings, dubizzle recommends that motorists:
- Check battery health and replace ageing batteries before they fail.
- Inspect tyre pressure, tread depth and overall tyre condition.
- Ensure coolant levels and the cooling system are functioning properly.
- Service the air conditioning system to maintain efficient cooling.
- Check engine oil, transmission fluid and brake fluid regularly.
- Investigate dashboard warning lights, unusual noises or changes in vehicle performance without delay.
With the UAE’s summer placing added strain on vehicles, regular maintenance and early attention to minor faults can help drivers avoid costly repairs and keep their cars running safely throughout the season.
