Sharjah children and youth film festival returns with Italy as country of honour

The 13th Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFF) will run from 25 October to 1 November, with Italy as its Country of Honour.

Organised by FANN, the eight-day festival will be held at City Centre Al Zahia in Sharjah and at House of Wisdom, under the guidance of Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Family and Community Council.

The programme will include international and Arab films, interactive experiences and opportunities to meet filmmakers and storytellers. The Italy focus will introduce young audiences to Italian cinema and culture, and create a platform for creative exchange between the UAE, Italy and the international filmmaking community, organisers said.

Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of SIFF, said cinema offers children and young people a chance to see the world through “different eyes”, opening windows onto new cultures and ideas while encouraging them to tell their own stories.

The film line-up, international guests, workshops and special programming will be announced in the coming weeks.
