The Ministry of Family and Majra, the National CSR Fund, have launched the Family Impact Award for the Private Sector, a national initiative to recognize companies whose work creates measurable and lasting benefits for families and communities.
The award is aimed at companies that go beyond conventional corporate social responsibility.
It looks for initiatives that empower parents in their family roles, improve quality of life for senior citizens and caregivers, strengthen families’ economic stability, support child and youth development, or offer new solutions to family-related challenges.
Its stated aim is to produce leading national models that can be scaled and replicated.
H.E. Abdulla Ali Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Family and Child Sector at the Ministry of Family, said supporting families is a national priority and a shared responsibility, with the private sector a key partner.
He said the award seeks to encourage companies to develop forward-looking solutions to families’ evolving needs while recognizing initiatives already making a difference.
By encouraging positive competition and the exchange of expertise, he added, the ministry hopes to embed family impact in corporate culture.
Sarah Shaw, CEO of Majra, said the award marks a step towards companies acting as active partners in “co-creating national impact”.
She said Majra believes investing in families is an investment in the future of society, and wants businesses to direct their resources, expertise and innovation towards families’ real needs.
Entries will be judged on evidence, with initiatives assessed against demonstrated results, data, indicators and supporting documents. The evaluation uses seven weighted criteria worth 100 points:
- Scale of impact on families and the community: 25%
- Measurable impact: 20%
- Sustainability and lasting impact: 15%
- Innovation in family solutions: 15%
- Scalability and replicability: 10%
- Partnerships and collaboration: 10%
- Organisational commitment: 5%
External community impact makes up 95% of the focus. Internal policies count for 5%, as a supporting sign of a company’s commitment to family wellbeing.
The award will recognise the top 10 companies in family impact, with special recognitions for innovation, sustainability and strategic partnerships.
The process runs from nominations and company submissions through technical assessment, judging committee deliberations and final approval. Winners will be announced at the Impact Summit.
