MG Motor Middle East launches all-new MG GT with sportier design, upgraded tech and expanded safety features

Starting at $13,990, the new MG GT arrives in the Middle East with two MEGA Tech engine options, a fighter jet-inspired cockpit, and three trim levels under the brand’s “The Rebel, Reborn” philosophy.

MG Motor Middle East has introduced the new MG GT to the region, marking a significant update for the compact sports sedan with sharper styling, improved performance options, a more refined interior, and a wider suite of safety and technology features. Positioned under the tagline “The Rebel, Reborn,” the model continues MG’s focus on sporty design and value-led mobility for a younger generation of drivers in the Middle East.

Building on the success of the first-generation MG GT, which developed a strong following among drivers seeking sporty styling without compromising affordability, the new model carries forward that legacy with a more assertive design language and upgraded mechanical and digital features. Prices for the new MG GT start from $13,990.

At the core of the update is an expanded MEGA Tech powertrain line-up, offering two 1.5-litre engine options. The 1.5L Turbo produces 168 HP and 275 Nm of torque, paired with a next-generation dual-clutch transmission (DCT) designed for sharper and smoother gear shifts. The second option, a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, delivers 109 HP and 140 Nm, matched with an Intelligent CVT transmission focused on efficiency and smooth urban driving. Both variants are front-wheel drive.

The exterior design draws inspiration from MG’s motorsport heritage, featuring a bold fastback silhouette and a distinctive waterfall-style grille with vertical detailing. Functional side air ducts, sharp LED headlamps, and a coupe-like roofline that flows into a ducktail spoiler give the MG GT a dynamic stance. At the rear, split 3D LED racetrack-style tail lamps enhance its visual identity, particularly at night. A wide 1,842 mm stance and low hood contribute to its athletic proportions, while Turbo variants come equipped with 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Inside, the MG GT adopts a fighter jet-inspired cockpit design. A floating 10.25-inch HD touchscreen sits alongside a fully digital instrument cluster, keeping key driving information easily accessible. The cabin also features an aircraft throttle-style gear shifter and turbine-inspired dual air vents, reinforcing the model’s performance-oriented character. Dual-tone interior finishes and soft-touch materials are used throughout, while higher trims add a power-adjustable driver’s seat and a wide-opening electric sunroof.

Technology and safety remain central to the model’s positioning, with three trim levels offering increasing levels of equipment. The entry-level 1.5L COM includes a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry with push-button start, rear parking sensors, cruise control, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA).

The mid-range 1.5T COM adds the turbocharged engine along with enhanced convenience features such as a 360-degree camera and an electric sunroof. At the top of the range, the 1.5T LUX introduces a more premium cabin experience and advanced driver assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Traffic Jam Assist, making it the most comprehensively equipped version of the MG GT to date.

Commenting on the launch, Jacky Xu, Managing Director of MG Motor Middle East, said:
“The new MG GT raises the bar in every respect while staying true to everything that made the previous generation such a compelling car – the sporty character, the bold design and the outstanding value. ‘The Rebel, Reborn’ is more than a slogan; it reflects exactly the kind of driver this car is built for. We are confident it will build strongly on the success of its predecessor right across the Middle East.”

MG also reinforces ownership confidence with a 6-year / 200,000 km warranty (whichever comes first), applicable across the Middle East. This is supported by the brand’s established aftersales network, including regional spare parts warehouses in Dubai and Jeddah, designed to ensure strong parts availability and efficient servicing across key markets.
