Maki & Ramen Brings Sushi Battles, Spicy Challenges and Interactive Dining Experiences to Dubai This April

From tabletop Sushi Battleship games to a fiery Level 8 ramen challenge, the UK-born cult favourite turns dining into a high-energy, shareable experience at Mövenpick JVT.

Dubai’s dining scene has never been short on concepts, but this April, Maki & Ramen is adding something a little more playful to the mix—where your meal comes with a side of competition.

The UK-born, Chef Teddy Lee-founded brand, already known for its bold ramen bowls and modern take on Japanese comfort food, is rolling out a month of interactive dining experiences in Dubai that blur the line between food, game, and entertainment.

Think sushi that becomes a strategy board. And ramen that comes with a challenge that might just test your limits.

Sushi, but make it a game

Running from 10 to 30 April 2026, the standout experience is Sushi Battleship—a table-top game that turns dining into a head-to-head challenge.

Designed for groups, couples, and anyone who enjoys a bit of friendly rivalry, the table becomes a 3×6 game board where diners “battle” it out using sushi pieces as their moves. Each AED 180 set includes 16 pieces of sushi along with two surprise “wasabi bombs” that hide an unexpected kick.

A dedicated game master guides the experience as players call out coordinates, trying to outsmart each other across a colourful spread of Maki & Ramen’s signature rolls. It’s part dinner, part game night, and fully designed for social media moments.

And because no Dubai dining experience is complete without a little extra incentive, guests who share their game and tag @makiramendxb will receive a complimentary ramen for the table.

The experience runs daily from 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm at Maki & Ramen, R Floor, Mövenpick Hotel, Jumeirah Village Triangle.

The Level 8 ramen challenge—for the brave only

If sushi battles feel playful, the next experience turns up the heat.

To mark International Ramen Day, Maki & Ramen is introducing a limited-edition Firecracker Ramen Level 8—a seriously spicy version of its popular bowl, created for those who think they can handle the burn.

Priced at AED 88, the dish comes with a chilled milk-based drink placed right beside it. But here’s the catch: drinking it mid-challenge means you’ve surrendered.

Alongside the launch is the Spicy Ramen Challenge, which is exactly what it sounds like. Finish the entire bowl—including the soup—in under five minutes, and you eat for free. But the real test comes after: you then have to wait another three minutes without reaching for the milk drink.

It’s a test of endurance, discipline, and spice tolerance—and those who make it through earn a spot on Maki & Ramen’s Wall of Fame. The fastest challenger across the month will also win an All You Can Eat voucher for one.

The challenge runs from 4 to 30 April 2026 at the same Jumeirah Village Triangle location, from 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm daily.

Dining, but designed to be experienced

With Sushi Battleship on one side and the Level 8 ramen challenge on the other, Maki & Ramen is clearly leaning into a new kind of dining culture—one that is social, competitive, and built for sharing both at the table and online.

Whether you’re there to win, to test your spice limits, or simply to enjoy a fun night out with Japanese favourites, April at Maki & Ramen is less about just eating—and more about participating.
