- From generous tips to lightning-fast deliveries, Careem shares the UAE’s favourite Ramadan moments.
Ramadan 2026 was a month of connection, giving, and, of course, plenty of food—and Careem’s app users were right in the middle of it all. Across rides, food, groceries, payments, and more, the UAE’s favourite Everything App captured a snapshot of how people celebrated, shared, and stayed connected during the Holy Month.
Seeds for Gaza: Giving Back Through Everyday Choices
This year, Careem transformed the dot in its logo into little watermelon seeds for the Seeds for Gaza campaign, and customers responded in force. Over 4,800 people joined in, alongside merchants and Careem staff, helping raise over AED 2.1 million for relief efforts. Across Careem Food alone, 47,500 orders went to 429 merchants and 110 brands connected to the campaign—a true testament to how everyday spending can become an act of generosity.
Food and Quik: Timing is Everything
Order habits shifted around the fasting schedule. Suhoor saw an 81% jump in Careem Quik grocery orders at 4 am, with essentials like bananas, cucumbers, and bottled water flying off the virtual shelves. Iftar orders rose 33%, with favourites including lentil soup, hummus, burgers, and Zaatar w Zeit in demand. The biggest single food orders? Sushi Buzz in Dubai and Pizza Di Rocco in Abu Dhabi, both timed perfectly for Iftar. One grocery order in Dubai had 82 items, while the fastest delivery of the month—a single packet of Doritos—arrived in under two minutes.
Careem Pay and Plus: Helping Families and Saving Big
Cross-border transfers surged, reflecting the importance of family connections during Ramadan. India remained the top corridor, while Bangladesh saw the fastest growth. One customer completed 70 transfers to the Philippines in 21 days; another sent money to India in just 12 seconds—the month’s fastest transaction. Meanwhile, Careem Plus members saved over AED 300 million collectively, with the top saver reaching AED 17,847, using services like Food, Hala, and Quik.
Captains and Generosity
The giving spirit didn’t stop at payments and orders. Dubai’s most generous tipper sent AED 950 across nine rides, averaging over AED 100 per trip. Careem Bike riders also clocked impressive distances, with the longest single ride stretching nearly 40 km from Kite Beach to Ras Al Khor.
Through fast deliveries, digital remittances, and everyday acts of generosity, Careem customers showed that Ramadan is about more than just tradition—it’s about connection, care, and making life a little easier for everyone along the way.
