Four Emirati Women Recognised for the Difference They Make

A mother supporting a child of determination. A researcher working on the UAE’s journey into deep space. A woman who has spent more than four decades supporting people of determination. And a sister whose devotion helped her sibling through cancer treatment.

These are the four stories Umm Al Emarat Park has chosen to highlight this Emirati Women’s Day.

The Abu Dhabi park invited members of the community to nominate Emirati women whose actions, achievements and commitment to others had made a positive difference. The initiative, launched at the beginning of August, received stories reflecting the many ways women contribute to their families, communities and the country.

The four selected women will receive the park’s Gold Loyalty Card, giving them unlimited access to Umm Al Emarat Park for a year, along with access for two children under 12 and selected discounts at park outlets and experiences.

But the stories behind the recognition are perhaps more meaningful than the prize itself.

Hind Ibrahim: Turning challenges into strength

Hind Ibrahim was recognised for balancing her professional and family responsibilities while caring for her son, a person of determination.

Her story reflects the challenges faced by many parents, but also how those experiences can become a source of strength and support for others. Hind has turned the difficulties she encountered into experiences that have positively influenced her son and family, providing encouragement to other mothers and families facing similar circumstances.

Mariam Al Hammadi: Reaching for the stars

Mariam Al Hammadi represents a different kind of Emirati ambition: one rooted in science and space.

After achieving the highest GPA in her master’s programme at Khalifa University, she continued her research career in spacecraft propulsion. She is now working on a project connected to the UAE’s mission to explore the asteroid belt.

Her story reflects the growing role of Emirati women in advanced scientific fields and the country’s expanding ambitions in space exploration.

Dr Nada Al Sayegh: Four decades of service

For more than 40 years, Dr Nadia Khalil Al Sayegh has dedicated her life to supporting and empowering people of determination.

She founded Senses Residential and Day Care for Special Needs in Dubai, which provides care and rehabilitation services.

Her contribution, according to the nomination, goes beyond providing care. It is about creating long-term impact for individuals, their families and the wider community.

Salha Al Remithi: When giving begins at home

Salha Al Remithi was nominated by her own sister, who wanted to recognise the support she received during her battle with cancer.

During her sister’s treatment and hospital stay, Salha remained by her side. She also attended nursing courses so she could help administer injections and operate the medical equipment needed for her care.

It is perhaps the most personal of the four stories, but also one that reflects something universal: that acts of service and generosity often begin within families.

The initiative was launched as part of Emirati Women’s Day 2026, held under the theme “We Emerge Stronger and Better.”

Together, the four stories offer four very different examples of achievement. But they share one common thread: the impact a person can have not only through professional success, but through the way they support, inspire and contribute to the lives of others.
