Ski Dubai, Dubai Sports Council and Athlete Fitness bring endurance training to a sub-zero environment on June 28.
Fitness enthusiasts in Dubai will soon have the chance to swap the gym floor for snow-covered slopes as Ski Dubai prepares to host the city’s first HYROX-inspired fitness challenge in a winter setting.
Scheduled for June 28, the event is being organised by Ski Dubai in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council and powered by Athlete Fitness, an official HYROX training partner. The challenge aims to combine functional fitness, endurance training and teamwork inside the resort’s -4°C indoor snow environment.
Unlike traditional fitness competitions, participants will tackle workout stations while navigating snowy terrain, creating a unique test of stamina and strength. The partner-based format is open to men and women aged between 18 and 60, with competitors working in pairs to complete a series of race-inspired exercises.
The challenge will feature a mix of endurance and strength-focused activities, including running through the snow, ski and rowing ergometer stations, farmer’s carries, walking lunges, wall balls, burpees and air squats. Organisers say the format is designed to replicate the intensity of HYROX-style training while introducing the added challenge of performing in sub-zero temperatures.

The event reflects the growing popularity of hybrid fitness competitions in the UAE, where endurance races, obstacle challenges and functional fitness events continue to attract participants seeking experiences beyond conventional gym workouts.
For Ski Dubai, the event also highlights the versatility of one of the city’s most unusual sporting venues. While best known for skiing, snowboarding and winter attractions, the facility has increasingly hosted fitness activities and community events that make use of its indoor alpine setting.
Registration for the challenge is now open, with entry fees starting from AED 150 per person.
Organisers have clarified that the event is inspired by HYROX training principles but is not an official HYROX race. Instead, it offers participants an opportunity to experience the demands of functional fitness in an environment rarely associated with athletic competition in the region.
