A new community-led experience launching in Dubai is reframing how women in leadership think about confidence—not as something to build from scratch, but as something to refine, express and sustain in high-visibility environments.
ARU House of Calibration will host its inaugural gathering on Sunday, 5 July at Uptown Social in Jumeirah Lake Towers, introducing a concept designed for women whose professional roles already place them in positions of responsibility, visibility and expectation.
A different kind of women’s gathering
Unlike traditional personal development or networking events, ARU is positioned around a more specific idea: that confidence in professional life is shaped not only by skill, but by presence, perception and how women are experienced in everyday interactions.
The concept takes its name from the Kazakh word “aru”, often associated with beauty, grace and inner strength, reflecting the ethos behind the platform—women who are already operating at a high level, and are now refining how they show up in those spaces.
In Dubai’s fast-paced professional environment, where women are leading companies, building businesses and occupying increasingly visible roles across industries, ARU is built around a growing need for spaces that reflect that reality.
From confidence to calibration
The inaugural edition will bring together a curated group of women for a morning focused on presence, communication and self-perception in professional settings.
The experience opens with a guided session exploring facial expression and presence—how subtle shifts in expression can influence how individuals are perceived in meetings, leadership settings and client-facing roles.
This is followed by a skincare masterclass designed to help participants better understand and care for their skin, framed as part of overall self-presentation and confidence in public and professional life.
The format is intentionally small-scale and experience-led, designed to encourage both learning and connection among women who share similar levels of responsibility and visibility.
Building a community, not just an event
While the inaugural gathering marks the launch, ARU is designed as a recurring platform rather than a one-time experience.
Monthly sessions will bring together women across the UAE to exchange insight, share experiences and engage in practical, skills-based learning focused on real-world application—particularly in professional and leadership environments.
The emphasis, according to the founders, is on creating a space where women are not stepping away from their responsibilities, but engaging with tools that directly support how they navigate them.
“It came from watching the women closest to me”
ARU was founded by Houssem Jemli, who says the concept emerged from observing the pressures faced by women balancing leadership, visibility and personal responsibility.
“It was inspired by watching the women closest to me carry extraordinary levels of responsibility, visibility and expectation, often without spaces that reflect the reality they are operating in,” he said.
“A key part of that perspective came from my mother, and how her sense of presence and authority evolved over time. It made me think about how easily women can feel the weight of constant pressure when they are not supported in the right way.”
A space for women who are already in motion
What differentiates ARU from traditional women-focused platforms is its focus on women who are already established in their careers and public roles, rather than those at the beginning of their personal development journey.
Each session is designed to offer immediate, practical value—while also creating space for peer connection among women navigating similar expectations in leadership, business and public-facing professions.
